Feeling the breeze on Golden Cap…

The legendary singer songwriter Billy Bragg was in Lyme Regis at the end of September working with composer John K Miles and B Sharp on the lyrical content of their Coastal Voices commission for mass choir.  The project reflects the local perspective on the Jurassic coast, whilst drawing on influences from different musical traditions from around the world. Billy Bragg was invited by B Sharp to work with young people from St Michael’s, Woodroffe and a core group of B Sharpers to inspire and develop lyrical starting points for the project.

“The workshop with Billy was amazing and really inspiring. It made me think about songwriting in a different way to what i normally do and made me write in a different genre which was different but i embraced the challenge. It was a really fun four hours and i hope to see him and work with him again.” Jake Perrett

On Golden Cap:

Step after step
Feeling the breeze
On Golden Cap
Up here I feel at ease

I feel so free
Touching the clouds
The beach below
Far from the madding crowd
